Burton Agnes Hall on Shed:153E

Whilst I have presented other images of steam engines in this portfolio in monochrome, this one deserves to be colour. I love the way the BR lined Brunswick Green livery is illuminated by the poor lighting in the shed at Didcot. I also love the way the glow from the firebox lights up the shirt sleeve and overalls of the chap in the cab. This image recreates a daily scene in steam sheds across the country in preparing the locomotives for their next duty. Burton Agnes Hall was built in 1949 by BR to a Great Western design. Despite that she has sometimes appeared in GWR livery during her time in preservation. Feb 19
